Panda Cares Donates $45,000 to La Habra Boys & Girls Club
On August 8, 2024, the La Habra Boys and Girls Club held a dedication ceremony to open its new Center of Hope room dedicated to not only arts & crafts but STEM science and quiet spaces where kids can sit and read.
This was only made possible thanks to the generous donation of the Panda Express non-profit "Panda Cares" Foundation.
Dozens of La Habra community members, volunteers, elected officials, stakeholders and kids gathered to celebrate the opening of this facility.
The La Habra Boys and Girls Club is one of the many non-profit organizations that helps reduce youth violence and is partially underwritten by the North Orange County Public Safety Collaborative in support of its efforts to help underserved youth in our community.

HOPE Center serves as a hub for homeless outreach in North Orange County
The HOPE Center's new Executive Director, George Searcy, comes from a lifetime of service in the non-profit arena. With a career spanning over three decades, George brings a wealth of experience in social services, community development, and strategic leadership.
He is working closely with the staff and the board, ensuring that HOPE Center continues to transform the lives of homeless individuals in Orange County. George is also coordinating with the North Orange County Public Safety Collaborative and other key stakeholders, reinforcing HOPE Center’s commitment to community collaboration and support.
George understands the challenges and opportunities at the HOPE Center and believes that the successful system that is being built here can be replicated in other areas of the state as we work toward a sustainable and compassionate solution to the crisis of homelessness we face.

La Habra Boys and Girls Club New Activity Room
Panda Cares, the charitable arm of Panda Express, provided the grant funding to the La Habra Boys and Girls Club to renovate its activity room to make it more welcoming and inviting for the kids to recreate and relax. Under construction now, the official ribbon cutting will take place on August 8 at 4:00 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club facility.

Boys and Girls Club Tri-City Podcast
The teens at the Boys and Girls Club of Cypress-Anaheim, Buena Park and Fullerton have launched a "Tri-City Podcast" with the funding support of the North Orange County Public Safety Collaborative. This podcast allows the youth of North Orange County to discuss and address the issues affecting teens today. By communicating honestly, the Tri-City Podcast builds relationships, educates our youth on important issues and reduces the chances of youth violence, which is one of the hallmarks of the North Orange County Public Safety Collaborative.

Cal State Fullerton Social Science Research Center
The North Orange County Public Safety Collaborative has shown that Community Based Organizations working together and in partnership with cities and police departments is a great benefit in the focus areas of youth violence prevention, re-entry opportunities for justice-involved individuals and people experiencing homelessness.
The reason we know this collaborative process works is that the Cal State Fullerton Social Science Research Center has been providing the analysis and course-corrections needed to enhance the program's efficacy.

The opportunities provided through OCCC provide career pathways and trade skills to those searching for employment.

Project Youth OC
Project Youth OC keeps at risk youth in school, healthy and drug-free through education, counseling, mentoring and family strengthening. The North Orange County Public Safety Collaborative helps support Project Youth OC with both funding and strategic visioning and planning. The kids in Project Youth learn it's less about where you come from than where you are going. This transformational program turns lives around and provides opportunities and guidance not only for the kids, but for their families.

La Palma Police Interaction with Youth (PIY) Program
Officer Wilson talks about the effectiveness of the Police Interaction with Youth (PIY) program at the schools in La Palma. Partially funded by a grant from the North Orange County Public Safety Collaborative and its mission to reduce youth violence, Officer Wilson and the PIY program has made a difference in countless lives including Lizzy Henry.

Senator Josh Newman
Originally funded in 2017, the North Orange County Public Safety Collaborative has grown to cover 12 cities in the region and continues to break down silos and provide resources for those in need. Considering the success of the program, Governor Newsom and Senate Pro Tem McGuire recently visited to learn more about the North Orange County Public Safety Collaborative to consider its replication in other parts of California.

HIS-OC
Located in Placentia, the Homeless Intervention Services of Orange County (HIS-OC) currently runs four programs that assist people who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. HIS-OC provides transitional housing for families, on site case management, job skills and placement assistance, family reunification, parenting classes and finical literacy classes for people in need.

Brea Police Chief Adam Hawley was recently named Chairman of the North Orange County Public Safety Collaborative. He becomes the third Chairman of the agency following the founding Chairman, Buena Park Police Chief Corey Sianez, and his successor, Fullerton Police Chief Bob Dunn.

Continuum of Care
The Continuum of Care program is designed to:

Promote communitywide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness through Regional Coordination and collaboration.

Advocate for funding and resources to end homelessness and provide funding for proven efforts by nonprofit providers, States, and local governments to quickly rehouse people experiencing homelessness, while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused to homeless individuals, families and communities by homelessness.

Cops 4 Kids
What started out as the Police Athletic League (PAL) has become "Cops 4 Kids." Sgt. Bob Conklin serves as Supervisor of the program, which serves at risk youth that have few, if any, adult mentors in their lives. The Cops 4 Kids program focuses on setting high standards and expectations for these young men and women both in academics and in their community. The success of the program goes beyond the youth who are in it, but it touches their friends, families and neighbors.

What is the North Orange County Public Safety Task Force?
Buena Park Police Chief Corey Sianez serves as the Chairman of the North Orange County Public Safety Task Force. As he explains, this innovative partnership between public safety officers, cities and community based organizations is focused on re-entry of prisoners back into society, youth violence and homelessness. Using a state-of-the-art technology app called "Outreach Grid," the NOC Task Force has made great strides in providing solutions to people experiencing homelessness. And the organization's partnership and fund assistance of various community based organizations has shown a marked drop in youth violence and recidivism of formerly incarcerated individuals.
In short, the North Orange County Public Safety Task Force is a success story and has the metrics to show that it is making a real difference in our communities.
